Labor Day will look a lot different this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but parade officials tell News 12 the West Indian American Day Parade will go on -- virtually.
This year, the parade won’t crowd the concrete streets of Eastern Parkway.
Nikiesha Hamilton tells News 12 she was brought to the West Indian American Day Parade as a child, and that for her the day brings a sense of pride.
“I'm first-generation American, so the ability to see both my Jamaican flag and my Trinidadian flag, mixed with a bunch of other flags from around the Caribbean, and seeing the unity and the freeness of it all,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton says she will never lose sight of the parade spirit.
