Travelers are scrambling to get home in time for Thanksgiving, and one of the longest-running holiday traditions, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, is sure to bring out thousands of New Yorkers.
This marks the 97th year of the parade, where local New Yorkers and people from across the globe will be coming to watch.
The parade kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, but Macy’s suggests arriving as early as 6 a.m. to get better views.
The closest subway station to the start of the parade is West 72nd Street on the 1, 2, and 3 line. Trains will be running on a Sunday schedule with additional service on the 1 train and Times Square shuttle line.
Areas to avoid are along Sixth Avenue between 34th and 38th Streets, as that’s where TV broadcasts and the biggest crowds will be for the parade.
