The widow of an NYPD detective killed in the line of duty two years ago gave birth to their baby girl Tuesday thanks to the help of modern technology.
Angelina Liu was born at a Manhattan hospital on July 25, 2017.
The NYPD says Sanny Liu had the semen of her late husband, Wenjian Liu, preserved when he was killed about three months after their wedding.
As News 12 has reported, Liu and his partner, Rafael Ramos, were gunned down as they sat in their patrol car. The suspect fled and killed himself.
Sanny Liu says that the night after her husband's death, she had a dream that the couple would have a baby girl.
After undergoing an in vitro fertilization procedure, Liu says she told her friends she was having a baby girl, the NYPD said in a statement.
"My friend said, 'No, you haven't even checked the sonograms,'" Liu said. "But I was right."
Detective Liu's parents, Wei Tang Liu and Xiu Yan Li, were present for their granddaughter's birth.
