Police say on April 3, just before 3 p.m., officers arrested 18-year-old Jayden Velasquez on 203 South 3 St. in Williamsburg. Velasquez was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Hours later, just before 7:15 p.m., police arrested 24-year-old Jeremiah Marks on Willoughby Avenue in Bed-Stuy. Marks was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Marks was arrested right near a school. News 12 spoke with a parent who wanted to remain anonymous, picking her child up from school. That mother said the situation was terrifying.

"It's frightening, you know? Your kids are in school, they're supposed to be in a safe space," she said.

The NYPD says they've made 913 gun arrests citywide so far this year.
