The city is a little greener thanks to an enormous wind turbine on the 30th Street Pier in Sunset Park.
At 160 feet tall, the 100-kilowatt wind turbine is the largest in New York City.
The turbine was a decision made by the Sims Sunset Park Recycling plant. The plant processes all of New York City's curbside metal, glass and plastic recyclables.
General manager Thomas Outerbridge says the wind turbine cost $750,000.
The company says between its new wind turbine and its solar power plant, it can now produce about 20 percent of the power the plant needs to operate.
