Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire in East New York that claimed the life of a woman Saturday.
The sound of sirens filled the air as firefighters responded to the blaze at 169 Linwood St. A neighbor reported hearing a loud explosion and a witness says the victim had pulled up to the house at 9:40 a.m., just one hour before the fire. Officials say gasoline may have been used to set the fire, which started on the second floor before spreading through the three-family building.
The victim is described as being in her 30s. She leaves behind a husband, who she owned the building with, and a teenage son.
