A woman is facing charges after police say an infant's death uncovered an unlicensed Spring Valley day care.

Police officers responded to a home on White Street for a report of an unresponsive 6-month-old back in January.

The child died in the hospital.

Eight other children inside were unharmed.

Investigators say 47-year-old Maria Nava-Nava was operating the unlicensed day care in the home.

The property owner is also facing separate charges for illegally converting apartments into the home.

Officials say the infant's death was not caused by the home's conditions.
