A new law being discussed would require retail and grocery stores to charge 10 cents for single-use plastic or paper bags.
Those proposing the law say it would reduce waste in the city. They say the goal is to get more shoppers to use reusable cloth bags.
The legislation has not yet been brought up for a vote.
