Worst Landlord Watchlist for 2023 reveals city's biggest offenders

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams released the list at a rally outside a Manhattan building owned by one of the worst landlords in the city, according to his office.

The buildings on the 2023 Worst Landlord Watchlist were unveiled on Wednesday.

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams released that list at a rally outside a Manhattan building owned by one of the worst landlords in the city, according to his office.

The public advocate's office says their goal is to spotlight the consequences of landlord negligence and call for greater city enforcement against bad actors.

The second-worst landlord on the list, David Tennenbaum, has several properties in the Bronx and two in Brooklyn. He has an average number of 2,416 violations. 

According to the list, the five worst buildings in the Bronx are:

  1. 530 EAST 169 STREET, BRONX, NY 10456

  2. 1133 BOSTON ROAD, BRONX, NY 10456

  3. 506 BROOK AVENUE, BRONX, NY 10455

  4. 975 WALTON AVENUE, BRONX, NY 10452

  5. 2000 PROSPECT AVENUE, BRONX, NY 10457

The list also outlines the five worst buildings in Brooklyn:

  1. 133 MACDONOUGH STREET, BROOKLYN, NY 11216

  2. 165 EAST 19 STREET, BROOKLYN, NY 11226

  3. 187 HULL STREET, BROOKLYN, NY 11233

  4. 1392 STERLING PLACE, BROOKLYN, NY 11213

  5. 80 CLARKSON AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY 11226
