Opening day at Yankee Stadium brought headaches to drivers looking for parking spots Monday.

According to motorists, police officers stopped them from turning onto E. 164th Street between Walton Avenue and the Grand Concourse. All Hallows High School Principal Sean Sullivan complains, "I can't get myself or my faculty onto 164th Street where we've been turning off for the last 30 years coming to school here for work."

Patients at nearby doctors offices and residents believe construction at the new stadium caused traffic delays to spread into residential areas that were previously unaffected by opening day. About 750 parking spots were eliminated due to construction. Residents say they wish officials had put up signs warning them about the chaos.

However, the NYPD maintains it did not block traffic on E. 164th Street and does not know why drivers were turned away from parking.
