Yonkers Mayor Spano nominates new police commissioner

Mayor Mike Spano nominated 27-year veteran of the force, Christopher Sapienza.

There's a new acting police commissioner in Yonkers.
Mayor Mike Spano nominated 27-year veteran of the force, Christopher Sapienza.  
He succeeds Commissioner John Mueller, a 28-year veteran of the force.
The Yonkers Police Department held a walkout ceremony for the outgoing commissioner earlier in the day.
Sapienza will serve as acting commissioner until his position is confirmed by the Yonkers City Council.
