Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater was sworn in Saturday as the newest member of the State Assembly.
He will represent the 94th District after current Assembly Member Kevin Byrne did not seek reelection.
Slater said he's ready to get to work.
“It is truly humbling to be able to say that I'm representing the people in the 94th Assembly District, Northern Westchester-Putnam counties. We have a lot of work to do but we know that we're ready to hit the ground running, roll up our sleeves and get to work on behalf of the people,” he said. “We've got a great generational team here in the Hudson Valley from the top down and I'm just thrilled to be a part of it.”
The Republican defeated his Democratic opponent, Kathleen Valletaa-McMorrow, back in November.
