'You get tired of calling.' Morris Heights business owner says piles of trash are driving clients away

In the last two years, the Department of Housing Preservation & Development reports more than 230 complaints and more than 200 violations in the building.

Maria Bautista says you can smell the garbage that's piled up outside her beauty salon on East 176th Street from a block away.

"Clients don't want to come because of the flies, the roaches, the raccoons," said Bautista.

Despite numerous 311 complaints and cries to the building's superintendent, she says it's almost like talking to a brick wall.

While News 12 crews were on scene, the superintendent's wife was seen recording the trash on her phone.

News 12 reached out to the superintendent and they hung up the phone abruptly.
