A young mother pushing a baby carriage was among the victims of recent violence in Brownsville.

The shootout on Mother Gaston Boulevard occurred just before noon Monday. Witnesses say they heard several shots. Sources say the young woman was pushing her 2-year-old daughter down the street when she was caught in the crossfire near the corner of Pitkin Avenue. She is expected to recover from her injuries.

Witnesses say at least two men were also hit with bullets, but are expected to be OK. One witness says he saw two suspects run from the scene in separate directions.
