A new exhibit created by interns opened at the Brooklyn Children's Museum Saturday.
The exhibit, called "Change Begins with Youth," was created by 13 students and features items that discuss protests, gentrification, criminal justice and gender equality.
The students, who are enrolled in a paid internship, say they got the chance to interact with their communities and learn more about the issues that affect their neighborhoods.
Councilman Jumaane Williams also attended the opening of the exhibit and donated a suit he wore in January.
Williams was arrested while protesting the arrest of an immigrant rights group director.
Zene Willoughby, a 17-year-old intern, says she learned the importance of having a voice and using it to educate others.
The 17 items will be displayed for the next two months.
The organizers tell News 12 Brooklyn that they will add more items to the collection.
