Brooklyn residents won't have to travel far to get fresh vegetables and fruits as Grow NYC Youthmarket farm stands open for the season.
Customers picked up fresh corn, greens, carrots and even eggs at the location on Flatbush and Nostrand avenues.
The farm stands sell produce grown by farmers from upstate New York and New Jersey. Local youths work at the farm stands so the farmers don't have to make the trip.
Shoppers who spoke with News 12 say it's good to have organic options right outside their front door.
Organizers say it's a win-win because the farmers get their produce into urban communities and young people are given jobs.
The program was so successful last year that this summer the market season will be extended beyond the normal 6-week run.
It will now run until November.
