14 hurt in Kingsbridge Heights apartment fire
Fourteen people were hurt, including a young child, after a Kingsbridge Heights apartment building went up in flames.
According to the FDNY, 11 tenants were taken to the hospital when the fire broke out at around 11 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of 2727 University Ave. The smoke was so thick throughout the building that some people on the fifth floor had to punch through a window to be rescued.
Officials say three residents are in critical condition including a 4-year-old, a 50-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman. Three firefighters also suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
