Nearly 10 after-school facilities across the city are facing closure due to budget cuts. According to the Campaign for Children, city officials plan on closing seven Beacon programs by July. The centers help to prevent students from dropping out. One of the programs in jeopardy is based out of I.S. 259 in Brooklyn.
