There is no doubt that people are excited for “Avengers: Endgame,” the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the sequel to 2018 “Avengers: Infinity War.”
When pre-sale tickets went on sale earlier this week, the number of people attempting to buy tickets crashed the Fandango website and broke a record for ticket sales in just six hours. Many showings sold out almost immediately.
With so many people clamoring to view the movie on opening day, people turned to sites like eBay for a chance to get a ticket. But how much would someone spend on a ticket that normally retails for about $15? Well, it turns out that someone was willing to spend 1,000 times that.
A set of 2 tickets for “Avengers: Endgame 3D” – the April 26, 3:40 p.m. showing at the AMC Dine-In Theater Essex Green in West Orange - sold for $15,000. That same ticket – any other day- would usually sell for only $22.
But if you are a huge Avengers fan and you have $15,000 to spend, here are some other items you might be interested in buying.
  • 2 replicas of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, which are currently being sold for $7,200 apiece. They are full-scale and made of steel.
  • 15 authentic replicas of Captain America’s shield at $950 each.
  • 2 sets of life-sized Iron Man suits at just under a whopping $8,000 each.
  • Or – if you have a lot of friends – 887 sets of Incredible Hulk fists, which sell for under $17 at most big box stores.
“Avengers: Endgame” is sure to be one of the biggest movies of the 2019 Summer Movie Season. The movie debuts on Friday, April 26.
