Bed-Stuy shooting victim calls for end to violence
A woman who survived a triple shooting in Bedford-Stuyvesant last October is calling for an end to violence.
Judith Daniels was one of three people shot on Oct. 1. She was shot in the leg near her job as a parent-teacher coordinator at P.S. 81. All three victims survived the shooting.
Daniels hosted a prayer rally Tuesday across from P.S. 81. She was joined by officers from the NYPD's 81st Precinct, local clergy and community members and students from the school.
According to Daniels, the recent spike in shootings could be curbed if more jobs opportunities and programs were available for young people.
While the city usually sees a spike in crime during the warm months, officials have said that shootings and murders are up this year over last.
