An event in Bed-Stuy Saturday aimed to bring the community together while changing the negative portrayal of men of color and projecting positivity in the streets.
The Brothers on the Block Coalition organized the event as an afternoon fit for the whole family. Invited guests shred their story about their life journeys.
The event also hosted Groomed Guys, which offered young men haircuts, and there was an art exhibit to showcase the people, places and things that represent Brooklyn's culture.
Event coordinator Barry Cooper says events like these provide a platform to showcase men of color moving toward a brighter future.
He says Saturday's event marked his organization's largest yet, and says they will continue to bring positive events to the borough.
