A Brooklyn family's final goodbye to a loved one has sparked a police investigation at a New Jersey cemetery.

Cleveland Butler, 85, was laid to rest at Mount Holiness Memorial Park in Butler, New Jersey. The family says a foot from a human corpse appeared on Butler's casket as it was being lowered into the ground.

Relatives say they are deeply troubled by the incident and want answers.

While the family laid their father to rest in New Jersey, they also held a brief service last Friday at the Robeson and Brown Funeral Home in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The funeral director tells News 12 in a statement: "The incident that occurred at the cemetery is indeed a cemetery matter. Robeson and Brown Funeral Home, Inc. and Mt. Holiness Cemetery are not affiliated. Our hearts truly go out to the Butler family and friends regarding their loss!"

The Butler borough police chief says early signs point to the case being not criminal in nature.
