Bridgeport police say they're using new DNA technology to help solve a cold case from 1993.

The badly burned body of a woman who remains unidentified was found 25 years ago at Railroad Avenue and Lafayette Street.

Bridgeport police have turned to a forensic lab in Virginia to come up with composite photos of the victim, saying she is the only unidentified victim among their 340 cold cases. They made the announcement at a news conference Thursday morning.

Police say Parabon NanoLabs specializes in predicting physical appearance and ancestry by using unidentified DNA, and the technology has now evolved to the point where extraordinary details can be discerned in composite photos.

Officials say they're excited about the opportunity to solve the cold case.
