A Brooklyn native is showing off his strength by competing in NBC’s new series ‘The Titan Games’ later this month.
While most of the people at the gym are probably trying to stay on track with their New Year’s resolutions, Frank Sansonetti has been training to reach another goal.

Sansonetti will be competing this month on ‘The Titan Games’ hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The show is comprised of professionals from all different walks of life and industries competing to showcase their physical strength through head-to-head challenges.
Last February, The Rock posted on his Instagram page that he was coming out with a new show, inspiring Sansonetti to apply.

“You had to do a home-video and a fitness test, which was a two-minute jump rope, two-minute plank and push-ups and pull-ups,” says Sansonetti.

Sansonetti waited close to five months after submitting his tryout tape to hear any news, only to find out that he had to go through a final round of competitions before he could make it to the show.

One hundred and fifty men and women finalists were chosen to compete that were then narrowed down to 64. Sansonetti, being the oldest male competitor at 40 years old, left the finals uncertain if he was actually going to make it through until he got a call.
Sansonetti says the arduous training he has gone through to get to where he is has not been easy.

“You're literally exerting yourself your body to like death, you know,” he says.

Sansonetti has worked as a firefighter for 15 years with his station located directly across from 1 World Trade Center. He hopes his training will give him an edge in the games.
Sansonetti wants to do this show not only to compete, but also show his young twins Madison and Anthony that the sky is the limit.
“I just want to show them that, you know, you never give up no matter what ever happens, you keep the bar high,” says Sansonetti.
