The 10th annual breastfeeding walk, organized by the Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center WIC program,  was held Friday morning to promote breastfeeding as the best way to feed babies.
The march is organized in honor of world breastfeeding week.
Celia Deane Joe, of Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center, said, “It’s better nutrients, it’s better suited to the baby, the temperature, the breastmilk, is specially formulated for your baby and it needs no preparation.”
The march tried to send a message to moms that they’re not alone, that local WIC programs and health centers and hospitals can help.
The organizers are also fighting for more lactation rooms in offices where women can come to breast-feed to pump and to store their milk.
