Brooklyn marks 11th anniversary of Sept. 11
It's a day of reflection as people throughout Brooklyn come together and remember the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, 11 years later.
Flowers have been left at the Brooklyn Heights promenade in memory of Ladder 118. From there, the new World Trade Center tower can be seen standing tall across the water.
At the 84th Precinct in downtown Brooklyn, officers stood in solidarity for a moment of silence before reading aloud the names of the 23 NYPD members who died in the line of duty.
At Squad One in Park Slope, firefighters also paused to remember the nearly 3,000 people who died in the terror attacks, including 343 fire personnel.
Many say the sight of the new Freedom Tower is an ideal example of the resolve of the American people and of New Yorkers. To watch extended interviews with Brooklyn residents on the 9/11 anniversary, click on News 12 Extra on Optimum TV channel 612.
