Synagogues in Brooklyn are taking increased security measures after news of an alleged terror plot to bomb two centers in the Bronx.
Patrols have been placed outside the Congregation of B'Nai Avraham. The synagogue's leader, Rabbi Raskin, says the beefed-up security is necessary.
"Worshippers have e-mailed me [Thursday] morning," says Raskin. "What we are doing is because of what happened up in the Bronx."
In Crown Heights, at the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education, Rabbi Hect says people are concerned the alleged plot is not an isolated incident.
"Can it happen here?" asks Hect. "We are doing whatever has to be done, so it should not happen here."
James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen, all of Newburgh, N.Y., have been charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction within the United States and conspiracy to acquire and use anti-aircraft missiles, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.
The men also allegedly desired to shoot down military planes.
