Bushwick Inlet Park is finally closer to becoming a reality as the city has acquired the final parcel of land that was standing in the way of the 28-acre waterfront park. 

The last piece of land was a giant blue warehouse owned by real estate developer Norm Brodsky. After long negotiations with Mayor Bill de Blasio and his administration, Brodsky has agreed to sell his land for $160 million. 

The city now controls all of the land needed to turn the industrial waterfront property into a green space for outdoor activities with play areas and athletic fields. 

The purchase of the land is a big win for the Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park, a local organization that has been fighting for the parks development for years. 

"The community spoke and we heard them," says Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. 

The Parks Department says the next step will be environmental studies at the proposed site.
