Child dies after being hit in head by concrete planter
<p>A child died Thursday after being hit in the head by a heavy concrete planter in Marine Park, officials say. Police say 8-year-old Kevin Reilly climbed up a house fencing at 2224 Ryder St. and grabbed a flower pot. </p>

A falling concrete planter struck and killed an 8-year-old boy in Marine Park Thursday as he was playing outside his family's Ryder Street home, authorities say.
Kevin Reilly climbed up a fence at 2224 Ryder St. and grabbed a flower pot, police say.
But the 100-pound planter slipped from its supports and hit him in the head.
Authorities took the boy to Coney Island Hospital around 5:30 p.m., where he was pronounced dead.
