Citi Bike to expand in Brooklyn
More Citi Bikes will soon be docked at new stations in Brooklyn and Manhattan this year.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced plans for the bicycle stations to be installed in Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope and Red Hook starting in August.
The bicycle-sharing program will also expand north in Manhattan to 110th Street.
Approximately 140 docking stations will be installed in total, bringing the number of docking stations to about 600.
Critics say Citi Bike pits bicyclists against drivers in areas where parking spots are scarce and traffic is heavy.
Bicyclists took a record 10 million individual rides on Citi Bikes in 2015, according to the city.
