Neighbors of the former Long Island College Hospital in Cobble Hill are at odds with the developer that bought the site and proposed plans to build a skyscraper.

Fortis Property Group has proposed two high-rise plans, both of which include a roughly 40-story building, at the site at Atlantic Avenue and Hicks Street. The company has not yet responded to a request for comment.

The proposed building would be about quadruple the size of the former hospital, residents say. The addition of new residential units could bring roughly 2,000 people to the area, which is currently home to about 10,000.

Residents say that there might not be enough resources for public transportation or street parking to support a growing community. 

Neighbors have asked the developers to reconsider their plans and to take the community's concerns into consideration.
