Community day held in Bed-Stuy to honor slain NYPD detectives
Two fallen police officers were remembered Saturday with a special community event in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Police and residents came together to honor and celebrate the lives of Detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, who were shot and killed while sitting in their patrol car in 2014.
The community day at Marcy Playground featured music, food and a basketball tournament, all aimed at fostering better relationships between police officers and residents, as well as supporting the families of the slain detectives.
