Crews are working Wednesday to remove a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus that crashed into a building in Prospect Lefferts Gardens on Monday.

On Monday, the 55-year-old driver of a B49 bus with 13 years on the job crashed into the two-story building. Sixteen people were hurt. More than 48 hours later, the bus is still there.

Many were captivated by the scene, including Tracey Bellings who lives down the street.

"I heard about it, so I just wanted to come and see," Bellings explained.

News 12 is told crews are putting up scaffolding to stabilize the building. When it's completely stabilized, that is when the bus will be removed. Until then, it has become a must-see in the neighborhood.

Neither the Department of Buildings or the MTA have responded to our calls or e-mails. The investigation into what caused the driver to crash is ongoing.
