Democrat Hubert Delany won the special election
for the 144th State House District in Stamford.
Delany won against Republican Danny Melchionne,
an ICU registered respiratory therapist.
The seat has flipped from blue to red back
to blue over the past decade.
Both candidates are Stamford natives who ran for
office for the first time.
Delany is a public affairs advisor and a journalist, and he served in the Army as a soldier. He was endorsed by
Mayor Simmons.
He has said some of his legislative priorities
include investing in education, lowering the cost of living, stimulating the
economy, aiding seniors, and supporting veterans and first responders.
