A Gloucester County man who got drunk in West Virginia says that he accidentally ordered a $1,635 Uber ride back home to Sewell, New Jersey.
Kenny Bachman says that he thought he was taking an Uber to where he was staying near West Virginia University's campus.
But when his driver woke him up two hours into the more than 300-mile journey to New Jersey, Bachman says he didn't know what was happening or who the driver was.
"I was just like, that's crazy. Why did you agree to take me to New Jersey from West Virginia?” Bachman says.
The trip was made more expensive because Bachman gave the driver money for tolls and ordered an UberXL, which can hold up to six passengers.
“It’s kind of embarrassing,” Bachman says. “It would have been like $800 but it came out to like $1,600."
He says he tried to challenge the fare with Uber but ended up paying it.
"I'm heading back to West Virginia this weekend to pick up my bags so if you guys see me say, 'What's up!'" says Bachman.
Bachman says he gave his driver five stars.
