The city will bring some granite paved street blocks of Dumbo's historic district up to date and tackle accessibility issues, according to the Historic District Council.

Some of the blocks will be replaced to meet accessibility requirements maintained by the Americans With Disabilities Act.

Street blocks that have access to crosswalks and sidewalks will be the first to undergo compliance upgrades, the council says.

However, not all blocks will have to be updated. A spokesperson for the Department of Design and Construction says the areas where blocks will be replaced must undergo inspection and cleaning so stones are smoothed out to meet ADA requirements.

The stones will then be replaced and brought up to code.
