Some Brooklyn businesses took it upon themselves to help a family who fell victim to gun violence on Labor Day weekend.
Patricia Brathwaite told News 12 in September that her “life was changed forever” when six people, including her 7-year-old son, were shot on the corner of Crown Street and Nostrand Avenue.
Donovan Bailey, 15, was arrested on charges that include attempted murder and assault.
Business owners say the attack felt personal and took it upon themselves to give them an array of gift cards and certificates.
“I’m just grateful for everyone that’s helping out,” she said.
Braithwaite’s son still relies on a walker to get around and goes to physical therapy three times a week.
