Fuhgeddaboudit Food: Enlightenment Wines
A Brooklyn business has been making its own honey wine for over 10 years.
Enlightenment Wines on Scott Avenue cultivates the mead using ingredients local to New York State.
Ingredients like honey, herbs and well water are incorporated into all of their wines, owner Raphael Lyon says.
"You kind of look around your neighborhood and your region, and we look at New York State, and we use honey and co-ferment those things to make a wine strength alcohol that is really specific," he says.
The business also has its own bar where anyone can walk in and try a glass of mead.
Enlightenment Wines
Address: 93 Scott Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237
