A French bakery in Bushwick that is operating out of a former printing press building is raising the bar when it comes to savory and sweet fresh baked goods.
Baguettes, loaves, croissants and all kinds of mouth-watering French goods are baked fresh daily at L'imprimerie on Myrtle Avenue.
Gus Reckel, the owner of the bakery says he left his banking job in France to open the café in Brooklyn.
Reckel says everything is baked with local fresh ingredients, including the award winning chocolate chip cookies - his mother's recipe, he says.
"She worked on it and adjusted it slowly and here we are now with this chocolate chip cookie that's a bit different from the U.S one," he says.
The building was home to a printing press. Reckel has kept the original printing press machine inside of the bakery and says the word L'imprimerie which means printing press in French was inspired by the former business.
Reckel also offers customers unique Quiches including flavors like zucchini and goat cheese.
