Funeral services were held Saturday for the Stamford man who police say was stabbed to death last week after he accidentally bumped into a stranger and spilled some of his coffee near a downtown McDonald's.

The parking lot at St. Mary's Parish on Elm Street overflowed as people came from across the region to pay their respects to the family of Antonio Muralles, 52. Even Stamford Mayor David Martin attended the funeral.

Family and friends say they're having a hard time coming to grips with Muralles' death and the seemingly senseless circumstances that apparently led to it.

Police say Muralles walked out of the McDonald's on Bedford Street on Wednesday, March 11, sometime in the early evening. At that point, investigators say he bumped into 15-year-old Marquest Hall by accident and may have spilled some of the coffee on him.

Police say that even though Muralles apologized, Hall and a friend fatally stabbed him.

Authorities say Hall has been charged as an adult and is being held on $2 million bond.

Muralles had worked at Green Mountain Products in Norwalk manufacturing chainsaws.
