Hundreds walk to raise awareness, funds for Alzheimer's
Hundreds of people were spending their weekend walking to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
The fourth annual Walk to End Alzheimer's was held at Kingsborough Community College.
The New York City chapter has raised more than $850,000 in four walks this year.
The disease causes memory loss, typically showing in people over the age of 65. Experts say 390,000 people in New York state have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and the Alzheimer's Association says one in 10 people over the age of 65 have the disease.
Money raised will benefit programs for people with Alzheimer's, as well as support services for patients' caretakers.
