Police say search efforts are underway for the man accused of killing an off-duty firefighter in Brooklyn in an apparent case of road rage.
Police sources say 33-year-old Fazial Coto was involved in a crash early Sunday morning near Exit 4 of the Belt Parkway. His car collided with another vehicle merging onto the exit.
Sources say Coto got out of his 2008 Ford Mustang to check for damage when he was hit with a fatal blow to the head.
Police found Coto lying next to his damaged Mustang around 4:45 a.m. with trauma to his head and face.
The suspect fled the scene in a gray or silver Infiniti G35, with driver's side damage and New York plate JEA-2402, according to police. They say the car was last seen in New Jersey.
Coto was a firefighter at Engine 245 in Coney Island, where he served for three years.
He was raised in Flatbush and was an aspiring rapper.
The wake for Coto will be held at Leone Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at
Leone Funeral Home, Inc.
