A Throgs Neck lounge owner is defending his business against mounting criticism and accusations of inappropriate behavior stemming from a private party on Sunday.
Robert Salese, general manager of the Vapor Lounge, says he takes full responsibility for a bachelor party during which photos were taken of a woman in her underwear and on all fours.
Salese says the incident was a bad judgment call and is not the image he wants to portray of his business.
"This is the first time that we've actually been...accused of being something that we're not," Salese says. "We have no focus on being a strip club, strip bar, or anything within that nature."
Community Board 10 recently voted to renew the Vapor Lounge's liquor license, which is given out by the New York State Liquor Authority. The lounge has a permit to sell alcohol on its premises but does not have a license for adult entertainment.
Salese says he understands the mounting concerns and that what happened Sunday was an isolated incident.
