A 70-year-old subway singer has signed a record deal with a rock-n-roll band.
Bill Hudson mostly sang doo-wop songs inside of New York City train stations, but that all changed recently.
"I have no problem with being '70 years old and signing a deal,' because deal or no deal, I'm chasing my passion in music," he says.
Hudson has been performing his whole life and used to practice in the subway stations as a teen, he says.
"Where you had that acoustic sound, that reverb. We would practice there for hours and hours," Hudson says.
Decades later, it was a show on a subway platform that led him to his newest venture.
Now he's the lead singer of John the Martyr and signed to +1 records with band mates from all over the world
"As long as you have the passion, the drive, motivation and you love what you're doing; deal or no deal, just pursue it," he says.
The band will perform at the Django on Tuesday, March 20.
