The '80s may be long gone, but Night Ranger brought it back in a live show that left audience members smiling.
The band performed at the Paramount in Huntington on Saturday night, playing two of its classic albums in their entirety: "Midnight Madness" and "Dawn Patrol."
Night Ranger is a quintessential 1980s band. It was one of the the first big video bands on MTV and has many recognizable hit singles. But even if you didn't grow up in the 1980s, you probably know some of their songs that have made their way into video games ("Guitar Hero," "Grand Theft Auto"), Broadway shows ("Rock of Ages") and a score of movies - most notably "Boogie Nights."
Night Ranger consists of three original members - Jack Blades (bass, vocals), Kelly Keagy (drums, vocals) and Brad Gillis (lead and rhythm guitars) - along with Eric Levy on keyboard and Keri Kelli on lead and rhythm guitars.
The group is worth seeing live - they rock hard and aim to please. The packed crowd sang along to fan favorites, including "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," "When You Close Your Eyes" and "Sister Christian." The band was in good form Saturday evening and played an impressive drum solo together on one drum kit.
