Over 700 commuters have signed a petition requesting the MTA make improvements on the Bx29 bus.
Commuters signed the petition spearheaded by the Civic Association in City Island.
They are asking the MTA to split the route of the Bx29, which currently runs from City Island to Pelham and Co-op City.
The petition is also asking the MTA to consider adding additional hours to the bus route to accommodate commuters who work non-traditional hours.
John Doyle, of the City Island Civic Association, says the MTA needs to make improvements for the Bx29.
"We want them to re-look at the route, we want them to extend the hours to be a 24/7 and we want the bus to be reliable for everyone," Doyle says.
Doyle says the bus is not fulfilling its duty by serving everyone in the community. He says things need to change.
Civic association members have met with the MTA to discuss further options.
