Police say a bicyclist was killed and two other people were hospitalized Sunday in a chain-reaction crash on Coney Island Avenue in Midwood.
The collision was captured on surveillance video that shows the vehicles losing control after the impact.
According to police, it began when a silver sedan heading south on Coney Island Avenue ran a red light. They say the car then struck a blue Honda SUV that was heading east on Avenue L.
The crash sent the blue Honda crashing into the front of 1545 Coney Island Ave. That's where police say the Honda struck a bicyclist and another pedestrian.
The bicyclist, a 52-year-old man, was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital. His identity has not been released at this time.
The pedestrian, also a 52-year-old man, was taken to Maimonides Medical Center with minor leg injuries.
The driver of the blue Honda was also taken to Maimonides with body trauma. He was listed in stable condition.
Police say the driver of the silver sedan, an 18-year-old man, was taken into custody. No charges have been filed at this time.
Neighbors tell News 12 that the incident is especially scary because it happened in front of a school, with another school just down the block.
