Police say one person has died following a single-car crash on the Sagtikos Parkway south of Exit S3 this morning.
Police say Carlos Martinez, 31, of Brentwood, was operating a car while traveling with his 8-year-old child inside the vehicle.
Martinez was traveling northbound when his vehicle began to exit the roadway and mount the right shoulder, police say.
The vehicle then crossed both northbound lanes of travel, where it entered the center median and struck the guard rail. Officials say the vehicle then rolled over and onto the 8-year-old, who was ejected from the vehicle.
Police say the child was removed from under the vehicle by good Samaritans and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
Martinez was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
