Police seek 4 who posed as immigration officers, robbed man
Police are trying to track down four men who allegedly posed as immigration officers before robbing a man in Brooklyn earlier this month.
According to detectives with the 90th Precinct, the 25-year-old male victim was riding a bicycle near Johnson Avenue and Humboldt Street when he was approached by the suspects around 10 p.m. on July 11. The four suspects were in a gray minivan when they rode up and told the victim to pull his bike over.
The suspects allegedly displayed silver shields and identified themselves as immigration officers. Then three of the suspects exited the vehicle, and one of them pushed the victim to the ground before stealing $60 from his wallet, according to police.
The suspects climbed back into the van and took off. The victim declined medical attention at the scene.
Police are describing the suspects as Hispanic men who all appeared to be in their 20s. They have released surveillance images of the vehicle and one of the suspects.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
