As the nation comes together to try to piece together Sunday’s mass shooting, psychologists say parents need to inform their children about these tragedies.
News 12 spoke with Dr. Sandra Pimentel, who says that parents should discuss difficult issues with their kids no matter what age they are.
“Helping kids shift to the good: A lot of good things, heroic things happened,” Pimental says. “With first responders and people at the scene, and you see people donating blood.”
She urges parents to talk to their children about what they see on television, but she also says that too much exposure to the shooting isn’t good for anyone in the family.
